Segunda B is the third tier of Spanish football and is divided into 4 regional groups of 20 teams.
Although the term Segunda División B was first used in 1928, as the division between Segunda A and Tercera, it has only been in existence since
1977.
There were originally only two groups and the current system of four groups has been in operation since 1987.
Segunda B Group Three includes clubs from the regions of Catalonia, Comunidadad Valenciana, Balearic Islands and Aragon.
The current Segunda B Group III Champions are CE Sabadell FC.
Although Segunda B Group III is run by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol, the system on which the competition is based is the same as the
Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante which are controlled by the LFP.
Segunda B Group III is disputed annually, beginning at the end of August or start of September and finishing in late May or early June of the following year.
The 20 teams in Segunda B Group III play each other twice - once at home and once away - for a total of 38 matches. The order of the games is decided
by lottery at the beginning of each season. The winning team receives 3 points, the losing team 0 points, and in the case of a draw, a point is
allotted to each side.
At the end of the season, the team that has accumulated most points is proclaimed Champion of Segunda División B Group III and is automatically
qualified for the Copa del Rey.
The play-offs consist of two knock out rounds played over two games (home and away).
The four Segunda B champions are drawn against each other in two matches over two legs. The two winners of these games are automatically promoted
and then play a further match that decides the national Segunda B champion.
The remaining 12 teams play against each other to bring the number down to six. These are joined by the two losing champions
and these teams play down (8->4->2) until the last two teams are promoted to Segunda División A.
Furthermore, the four 16th placed teams dispute play-offs to decide on the relegation of a further two sides, so a total of 18 Segunda B clubs are
relegated to Tercera.

Segunda B Group III System
Segunda División B comprises a total of 80 clubs that are divided in four group of 20 teams on a regional basis.
Promotion to Segunda A
Once the regular season is over, the top four teams in Segunda B Group III dispute play-off against the top four teams of each of the other
Segunda B group for promotion to Segunda División A.
Relegation to Tercera División
The four last placed teams in each Segunda B Group are relegated to Tercera División.
